Do I have to pay for an agent?
Before 2024 the answer was an easy “no.” But with the settlement of the lawsuit in the summer of 2024 there are some big changes afoot in the real estate industry. Buyers must now to sign an agreement with their Realtor before they can view any given property, and this agreement will specify any fees in advance, if any. Are you REALTORS – and what’s the difference between a real estate agent and a REALTOR?
Nor all agents are Realtors. A “Realtor” is a real estate agent who is a member of the National Association of Realtors and subscribed to their strict code of ethics. Realtors may also undertake further education courses and Realtor designations are awarded to those agents who continue to take classes to learn more about their profession and / or specialize in various areas of expertise. So it makes sense to use a “Realtor” rather than a part-time agent. And yes, we are Realtors.
